Day One in Budapest
September 30, 2008 on 3:02 pm | In Uncategorized | No CommentsMonday I relaxed most of the morning. I’m still nursing my Oktoberfest cold. I did walk down to the Danube River in the afternoon. I stopped and had a some coffee and more goulash. In the evening Aaron and I went out to dinner. We sat out in a more touristy part of town. During dinner we had what is called a giraffe of beer. Which is how they served us 2.5 liters of beer. At the base of the giraffe is a spigot to pull the beer from. Very unique experience.

Travel Day to Budapest
September 29, 2008 on 4:14 am | In Uncategorized | No CommentsSunday night I arrived in Budapest. The quick flight from Munich was uneventful. However, when I arrived by taxi at Aaron’s place I left my phone in the cab. I flagged another cab and the guy helped me track down the phone. I had to go all the way back to the airport. These people were all very nice, I actually got the phone back very quickly. The people could not be nicer. Once that fiasco was over, Aaron and I went to a great local restaurant for some local cuisine. This means goulash. The food was great and the beer was just as good. I finally made it to Hungary, very exciting.

Saturday Night at Ochsenbrateri
September 28, 2008 on 7:32 am | In Uncategorized | No CommentsSaturday night at Oktoberfest is always a very big deal. The weather was perfect and the sun was shinning. We had a table down on the floor very close to the band. As always, we made some new friends and got to visit with old friends. Another exciting evening in
Ochsenbrateri. Today is now Sunday, E & Ai are heading back home. I leave Munich behind for some time in Hungary. “The train rolls on.” Many thanks to the Pohl’s for their generous hospitality.

Second Friday
September 27, 2008 on 4:47 am | In Uncategorized | No CommentsAfter a relaxing afternoon we all went to Lardy’s for drinks and 70’s pop music. Saturday is our last full day in Munich. We will spend the day back in the beer tent. Saturday at Oktoberfest is always over the top, and always memorable.

Thursday at the Chinese Tower
September 26, 2008 on 7:48 am | In Uncategorized | No CommentsThursday we spent much of the day recovering from Wednesday’s Oktoberfest. We walked to the Chinese Tower which is in the English Garten. A relaxing day of sitting and drinking Bavarian beer. Thursday night Eric and I met a couple from Arizona in an Irish pub. We then proceeded to an after-hours club. We closed out multiple pubs and the after-hours place. It was a very late night.

Wednesday at Ochsenbrateri

Debacle at Allianz
September 22, 2008 on 9:22 am | In Uncategorized | No CommentsSaturday we picked up Eric and went to the Bayern Munich match at Allianz Arena. Bayern lost the match 5-2 to their Northern rivals Weder Bremen. We enjoyed the evening with friends at Weinhaus Schneider’s in Munich.

Back to Oktoberfest
September 21, 2008 on 5:59 am | In Uncategorized | No CommentsI arrived in Munich very early Friday morning. We have many plans for the week in and around Munich. I will be here for 10 days before heading East to Budapest. But first it was time to enjoy a Bavarian beer and a smoke.
