Fender Project No. 2, Complete

I built this guitar with the body of a 94′ Mexi-Strat, and the neck, pickguard and pickups of a 96′ Mexi-Strat. I did not do the paint job on this one. I spent most of Saturday working on this. Fender Project No. 1, which has been well documented here, has resumed. I have final sanding, primer and paint to apply. Recently a new neck and tuners came in. I also have the electronics to build the pickguard assembly.

Tuesday is Beach Day

Tuesday was a perfect day for the beach. 85 & sunny, another beautiful day in Southwest Florida. We spent the day at Carl Johnson State Park, a natural beach south of Fort Myers Beach. The day was spent relaxing in the hot Florida sun, enjoying cold beer and the cool Gulf breeze. At the end of the day the group of us headed up to Fort Myers Beach to find a good place for dinner. Typical Florida meal; fried Oysters, baked Grouper & cold beer. After dinner we found a local pub that was truly a gem. Düsseldorf’s, a German pub that has a tremendous selection of the best European tap beers. If you ever make it to Fort Myers beach, make sure to stop in Düsseldorf’s.

Monday on the River

Monday we spent the day fishing on the Caloosahatchee. The fishing has been slow as of recent, but the tides were perfect and the temperature was 85 degrees. I mostly caught undersized Mangrove Snappers and some Blow Fish. I also had a chance to try out my new saltwater flyrod. Fly fishing can be tough in this area because of the trees and wind. I mostly fished the bottom with live shrimp on a medium weight spinning rod. Can’t beat fishing in Southwest Florida, especially on a Monday. Below is my Uncle and myself on the North Shore of the river.
