West Virginia Section 2

Saturday I continued my trek along the Appalachian Trail. This day I hiked West Virginia Section 2 from Rt. 9 south to Rt. 7. The A.T. is along the Blue Ridge, which is the boundary of the eastern panhandle of West Virginia. The hike was about 14 miles with moderate elevation changes. The temperature was about 33 degrees when I started with a strong cold front approaching from the west. Snow fell softly for most of today’s hike which made for soft footing and may have slowed my time. The final few miles this cold front had found me. The wind was howling through Snickers Gap just north of Rt. 7. It really sounded like a freight train. All the while I experienced a snow squall which was interesting. The weather man has predicted sunny sky’s for next Saturday, that will be welcomed.

Weekend in the Ohio Valley

Last summer I went on an interesting road trip through Marietta Ohio, Benwood & Wheeling West Virginia and Pittsburgh PA. I got to see some things I’ve always wanted to see, a had a beer in a few special places and met some new friends. The last day we went to a ballgame at the new stadium in Pittsburgh. Here I am with the greatest player to ever play the game. Josh Gibson for those whom are not familiar.
